2010年8月28日、第49回 国立市民体育祭 総合開会式が国立市総合体育館で開催されました（国立市体育協会加盟20連盟が出席）。
国立市体育協会小島会長による「スポーツ選手から生まれ出される感動に勝るものはない」と、スポーツに期待する熱い思いが挨拶されたあと、関口国立市長ほか来賓の挨拶、成績優秀者の表彰、国立杖道連盟による模範演武、国立三中OB吹奏楽団のGReeeeN『キセキ』ほか１曲の特別演奏、盛りだくさんの式典でした。 ユニフォームを着用した選手は、スポーツマンシップに則った精神の表れとも取れる、凛凛しさを感じる姿でした。
